Terms of Use

1. About these terms

These terms are the agreement between you and International Design LLC (インターナショナルデザイン合同会社, "we") for using GoGaijin, meaning gogaijin.ai and the GoGaijin app. By creating an account or using GoGaijin, you agree to them. If you use GoGaijin for an agency or another business, you confirm that you can accept these terms for it. How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.

2. What GoGaijin is

GoGaijin is a tool for planning trips to Japan and sharing them with travelers. We are not a travel agency. We do not sell, book or arrange transport, tickets, tours or accommodation, and we are not a party to any agreement between an agency and its travelers. Agencies that arrange travel are responsible for their own licenses, such as those under Japan's Travel Agency Act, and for their contracts with travelers.

3. Your account

4. Workspaces and teams

Trips live in workspaces. The owners of a workspace decide who belongs to it and can change roles or remove people. Trips and library items created in a workspace belong to that workspace and stay there when a member leaves.

5. Your content

You keep the rights to what you put into GoGaijin. You give us a license to store, copy, display and transmit it only to run GoGaijin for you, including showing it to the people you share it with. Only add content you have the right to use.

If you enter information about travelers or other people, you are responsible for having a lawful basis for it and for telling them how it is used. We handle that information on your behalf, as described in our Privacy Policy.

6. Sharing

Anyone with a trip's link or code can see that trip, your workspace's name and contact details for travelers, and the trip's discussion. Do not put anything in a shared trip that you would not want those people to see. You can turn sharing off at any time.

7. Japan information, photos and illustrations

Booking windows, opening rules and other details in GoGaijin come from official sources and show the date we checked them. Venues change their rules without notice, so always confirm with the official source before you rely on them. We are not responsible for missed bookings, sold out tickets, closures or price changes.

Photos come from Wikimedia Commons under the licenses shown with each one. Region illustrations and landing films were generated for GoGaijin. Do not copy them out of GoGaijin except as their licenses allow.

8. What you must not do

9. Fees

GoGaijin is free at the moment. If we introduce paid plans, we will show the price and conditions before you pay, and they will apply only if you choose a paid plan.

10. Ending or changing the service

You can delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or when the law requires it, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents us. We may change GoGaijin as it develops. If we decide to shut it down, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance so you can save your trips.

11. Warranties

We work to keep GoGaijin accurate and available, but we cannot promise it will always be error free or uninterrupted. Nothing in these terms limits rights that you have under laws that cannot be excluded by contract, such as Japan's Consumer Contract Act.

12. Liability

We are liable under the law for damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence. If we cause damage through slight negligence only, our liability is limited to ordinary and direct damage, up to the greater of the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the damage and 10,000 yen.

13. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms when the law changes or GoGaijin changes, within what Article 548-4 of Japan's Civil Code allows. We will publish the new terms and the date they take effect on this page in advance, and we will email you about changes that matter. If you keep using GoGaijin after that date, the new terms apply.

14. Law and courts

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Tokyo District Court has exclusive jurisdiction in the first instance. This does not take away protections that the mandatory law of your country of residence gives you as a consumer.

15. Language

These terms are available in Japanese, English, Spanish and Chinese. If the versions differ, the Japanese version prevails.
